About St Dunstan's

Independence has always been at the very heart of St Dunstan's work. It's by encouraging and building self-reliance, that we help blind ex-Service people discover the confidence and skills to build new independent lives.
It starts with the fundamentals - like learning to get around again by using a white cane. But that's just the beginning. Many of our beneficiaries will often go on to master a whole host of skills - from safely cooking a family meal to trying out exciting new sports and activities and expressing their creativity in our craft workshops. We further help beneficiaries engage with the world around them with specially adapted computers, telephones and screen readers.
  • Offering regular assessments by specialist staff
  • Adapting a tailored programme to meet their changing needs
  • Helping our blind heroes live independent and fulfilling lives
  • Building self esteem and a sense of achievement
